At Citizens Advice we are concerned that Torbay residents may need help with the new way to get a free tv licence. So, if you are 74 years or older and concerned about paying your licence fee, then talk to us. We can help you with the calculations to see if you are eligible for any Pension Credit – even an award of a £1 a month pension credit would mean a free tv licence.
If you aren’t eligible for the free licence, then there is a pay fortnightly/monthly plan available for which we can refer you, which might be easier than paying a lump sum.
The TV Licensing body explains it thus:
You can get a free TV Licence if:
- You, as the licence holder, are 75 years or older
AND - you, or your partner living at the same address, receive Pension Credit.
We explain it thus:
If you have to pay for your TV Licence, then it will be £157.50. To find out if you can receive Pension Credit, or about the Simpler Payment Plan – talk to us at Citizens Advice.
